Stephens Ministry is:
 | A lay, caring confidential ministry in which one person reaches out to
another in time of need
 | An ongoing, caring, non-judgmental relationship in which people who need
help, get help
 | A place where the Care Receiver feels that "Someone cares about what
is happening to me."
 | Grounded in the love of God. Through one-on- one caring relationships,
those who hurt receive the love and care they need with the assurance that
what is said and heard in their meetings will always remain confidential.
Everyone who goes through Stephen Ministry helps another get through the
confusion, stress, and loneliness which sometimes comes with life.
A Stephens Minister is someone who:
 | has lived life and love it: who has come to a compassionate place of
wanting to share their experience, strength, courage, and hope in supporting
others who are suffering and struggling to find their way through similar
experiences.
 | a person who is more a human being than a human doing.
 | a care giver
 | a careful listener
 | a Christian in action
 | an unconditional friend
 | a loving supporter
 | a wounded healer
 | a confidential mentor
 | a lover of life
A Stephens Minister is not:
 | a cure giver
 | a counselor
 | a therapist
 |
a casual visitor
What is training about?
It's about giving love and support with no conditions. A great deal of
emphasis is placed on confidentiality as an absolute must. Training topics
include, listening skills, communication skill building, learning about
loss, grief, illness, death, divorce, stress, relationships, and aging.
