Planned Missions for 2005
 |
Health Kit Ministry |
The Mission Committee of
Glen Burnie United Methodist Church thanks everyone who donated health
kits/supplies to its health kit ministry for the Tsunami survivors in
Southeast Asia. During the month of March to April 3, 2005, donations of the
following health items are requested: hand towels, wash cloths, combs, nail
clippers, bars of soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, band-aids, and 1 gallon
plastic bags with zipper closure. 96 health kits were delivered to The
Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church for their
distribution to relief agencies in the region.

School Kit Ministry |
Our school kit ministry
provided needed children with school supplies. Our members donated pencils,
crayons, scissors, paper, erasers, and other supplies for this ministry.
With these supplies, school kits were assembled and delivered to Church World
Service Center in New Windsor, Maryland. This ministry begins July 3 thru
August 21.

North County CROP WALK |
Your Mission Committee is organizing the 13th annual North County
CROP WALK that is raising funds to stop hunger in our community and around the
world. Our Crop Walk brings together people of all ages and faiths in a
people-to
people network of local and global caring. Last year, approximately 141
walkers from 16 churches raised $13500 to stop hunger. 25% of the total amount
raised
went to our local outreach center, NcEON. October 2, 2005 is our CROP WALK
date.

Coins For Christ
|
Coins For Christ
is a fund raising project to support the Arundel House of Hope, a year round
shelter to house 10 homeless men in our community. Our commitment to the
Arundel House of Hope is $5,000 per year for 5 years. These funds, combined
with other church’s support, will help staff, maintain, and operate the
shelter. To fund our commitment to the shelter, “Coins for Christ” gives
members the opportunity to support this outreach mission. All coins collected
during our worship services will be designated to the House of Hope.

Winter Relief Shelter
Program |
Our church participates yearly in the Winter Relief
Shelter Program. This program ministry involves the homeless men in our
community. We operate, staff, and provide shelter and meals for a max of 24
men in our church during the winter months.
 |
Blanket Sunday Program |
Our church participates
in Church World Service(CWS) Blanket Sunday Program. In the past years, we
have been able to make sizable contributions to the CWS for this program. CWS
donates the blankets that have been purchased with these funds and distributes
them domestically and internationally.
